SRA – SeLa (Sensor-based Landing Aid) Radar Altimeter

The SRA is a sensor-based landing aid system; it assists the pilot in landing the helicopter on unpaved surfaces. The key component of this system is the radar altimeter which measures the true distance to the ground. By using highly integrated frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) w-band radar, it is possible to penetrate vision degrading matter such as sand, dust, fog, and smoke clouds.
