CAWS 4800 Display Unit 4801 Computer Unit 4802
The Central Advisory and Warning System (CAWS) is a data acquisition, logic processing and display system. It indicates the system status and alerts the crew in the event of an aircraft system malfunction.
The CAWS indicates the system status and alerts the crew to a system malfunction via colored legends situated on an annunciator panel and by voice warnings via the aircraft audio system.
The Computer Unit serves as an interface between the aircraft systems and the Display Unit. In the event of an aircraft system malfunction the failure status will be presented to the pilot/copilot via an illuminated legend on the Display Unit and/or by a voice call-out from the Computer Unit.
The communication between the Computer Unit and the Display Unit is realized by a CAN bus.
